🚋 Taling Chan Station – Taling Chan Floating Market

Getting there Take a bus no. 79 extra (red plate) get off at Charan Sanit Wong 40, turn left to get a bus no. 79 at the opposite side of Pata Department Store to get off at Taling Chan District Office where Taling Chan Floating Market located. For more convenience you can take another choice by taking a taxi within a distance of 5 kilometers.

At this suburban community market, you can find fresh produce from growers in Taling Chan district in addition to food, both sweet and savoury, plants, and an assortment of goods. 😆

Food is a major feature at this market and is the star from the entrance until the riverfront where you will see vendors plying their trade on boats in the tradition of a floating market. Thai traditional music is performed for free during the day from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Join karaoke in the garden if you love to sing or listen to others! 🎶

🚋 Bang Bamru Station – Chang Chui Creative Park

Getting there Get off at Bang Bamru Station and walk about one kilometre, or take a taxi or Bus No. 79.

Chang Chui is a must-visit if you’re looking to shop and dine in a creative space of Thon Buri. 🎨🎶

You will enjoy its well organised green area, arts and crafts, not to mention its de facto hallmark – a real airplane.

Chang Chui is open every day but is more lively in the evening with the opening of its night zone when stylish bars and restaurants start operating. 🥰

  • Chang Chui has three entrances:
    • Gate 1 on the Sirindhorn Road
    • Gate 2 and 3 under the Si Rat – Outer Ring Road Expressway.

🚋 Bang Sue Grand Station – Chatuchak Weekend Market and Or Tor Kor.

Getting there Get off at Bang Sue Grand Station and change to the MRT Blue Line to get off at Kamphaeng Phet or Chatuchak Park Station.

🛍️ Chutuchak Market needs no introduction. It’s already synonymous with the greatest weekend market of Bangkok where some 13,000 stalls spread across 35 acres and 26 sections sell goods ranging from food, clothes, souvenirs and home décor, and much more.

Or Tor Kor Market 🥭🍊🍉

Or Tor Kor is across the street from Chatuchak Market. High-quality fresh produce, including seafood as well as cooked food is available at this “wet market” that is clean and well-organised. The government-owned Or Tor Kor was set up about 45 years ago to help farmers distribute their produce.

The premium fruits of Or Tor Kor are especially well-known among foreign visitors.

🚋 Bang Khen Station – Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)

Getting there Get off at Bang Khen Station. The Museum is only a 700-metre walk from here.

A private museum founded by well-known businessman Boonchai Bencharongkul, MOCA displays his impressive collection of works by famous Thai artists. The Museum is also dedicated to the father of Thai art, Achan Silpa Bhirasri, who was instrumental in the founding of today’s Silpakorn University. 🎨

The 5-storey building displays various disciplines of Thai art with a different theme for each zone. There are both permanent and rotating exhibitions, so you can keep coming back. 😊

🚋 Laksi Station – Wat Phra Si Mahathat Woramahawihan and The 11th Infantry Regiment’s Plant Market

Getting there Get off at Laksi Station and then take a taxi or bus No. 59 at the bus stop opposite Wat Laksi. The temple is near the fifth stop, about 2.5 kilometres away.

Wat Phra Si Mahathat Woramahawihan ✨

This temple has an intriguing background. Formerly named “the Temple of Democracy, it was founded in 1941 by the government of Prime Minister Plaek Phibunsongkhram in commemoration of the government’s victory over the Boworadet rebellion in 1933.

The white bell-shaped stupa is enshrined with the Buddha’s relics from India. The temple’s name was later changed to Wat Phra Si Mahathat to reflect the temple’s status as a home to the great relics. 🙏

Cross the road and walk around five minutes go to The 11th Infantry Regiment’s Plant Market. 🌳

This is among the established places in Bangkok where you can find a wide selection of plants and gardening supplies. It was set up inside the barracks to help military families earn extra income. You are required to deposit your ID when entering the military zone.
