Day 1 The old bridge, Khao Pilai Beach.

The bridge was originally built to transport tin from the marine mining industry to the onshore mining separation, which was in use for over 100 years.

When the mining era ended, the bridge was abandoned until it became dilapidated. So, it became a photo spot where tourists and photographers frequented the old wooden bridge.

The next place is Wat Tha Sai or Thet Thammanawa.

In the past, this area was called the “Tha Sai Forest” due to the fact that there were many trees covering the area. The area was used as a cemetery because villagers in the area and nearby districts cremated or buried bodies in this forest.

At present, the Tha Sai Forest has been developed into a temple, which is called Wat Tha Sai and later changed its name to Thes Thammanawa Temple.

The interesting highlight of this temple is it is a Buddhist temple built from teak decorated with exquisite carved patterns. The external structure is modelled from the Phra Ubosot, Phra Aranwasi Buddha, Tha Bo District, Nong Khai combined with the Chao Fa part of the chapel, carved by Chiang Mai artisans.

Inside is enshrined various Buddha images and the principal Buddha image carved from white jade stone, which has a lap size of 55 inches wide and is 2.15 metres high.

Near the chapel is a long beach. You can take a walk in the sea breeze.

This beach area is also a point where sea turtles lay eggs in the spawning season as well.

  • Preparation Before Learning to Surf
    • 1. Before learning to surf, you should eat and drink an appropriate amount. If you eat too much, you may suffer from abdominal pains while surfing.
    • 2. For the first surf lesson, it is recommended to wear a long-sleeved swimsuit to reduce the friction between your body and the surfboard. It is not recommended to take off your shirt or wear a bikini, as it can cause injury to your skin.
    • 3. For beginners, soft-top surfboards are recommended to reduce the impact in case of an accident. For those who have experience in surfing, a hard board made of fibreglass PU or Epoxy can be used.
